What is an oak garage kit?

The frame, the roof structure and the boards, cut and jointed at our workshop and delivered for your builder to put up.

Choose one of our standard designs, from £12,400 + VAT for two bays, ready six weeks after you order. It's the cheapest way to own an oak garage, if you already have a builder.

Which kit designs can I order?

Five standard designs at fixed prices, delivered, plus VAT. Each comes with a tile roof structure ready for your roofer.

  • One-bay garage 3 × 6 m, 18 m². Back and ends boarded, open front. £8,800 + VAT.
  • Two-bay garage 6 × 6 m, 36 m². Back and ends boarded, open front. £12,400 + VAT.
  • Three-bay garage 9 × 6 m, 54 m². Back and ends boarded, open front. £15,700 + VAT.

The pictures are designs from our design tool, shown with the roof covering on. The kit is the frame, the roof structure and the boards; the covering is yours. Need a different size, a hipped roof or a room above? We'll draw and price it for you.

How much does an oak garage kit cost?

From £8,800 + VAT for one bay to £19,100 + VAT for four, delivered.

For 3 m bays 6 m deep. That's roughly a quarter of the price of the same garage designed and built by us, because the base, the roof covering, the labour and the planning are yours to arrange.

What's in the kit

  • The green oak frame, cut, jointed and dry-fitted, with oak pegs
  • The cut softwood roof structure
  • Studwork and cedar featheredge boards for the sides, loose
  • Oak fascias and barge boards
  • Our engineer's check on the frame
  • A setting-out drawing for the base and a numbered assembly drawing
  • Delivery anywhere in mainland UK

Not in the kit

  • The base, the roof covering, doors and fixings
  • Labour, and a crane where the site needs one
  • Planning drawings and the application

Who puts the kit up?

Your builder, or a competent carpenter.

Every piece is numbered to an assembly drawing and the joints are pegged; the frame for a two-bay garage goes up in a day or two. If you'd rather we put it up, we supply and install: ready in eight weeks, and up to two weeks on site with the boarding, eaves and verges.

What do I need before the kit arrives?

A level base, a planning check, and room for the lorry.

The base is built to our setting-out drawing: a raft, or strip footings with a plinth. Planning permission or a permitted development check is yours unless you ask us to do it. You need room for a 12 m lorry to unload, and a builder booked for the week it lands.

Kit or designed and built: which should I choose?

A kit if you have a builder you trust, or you're outside our area.

Designed and built if you're within 90 minutes of Abergavenny and want one firm to carry the planning, the base, the frame and the roof, for one price. Most people within our area choose the second.
