The first extension we ever built, brought to us by the builder Josh had laboured for as a teenager.

Tash and Matt had recently moved in and were planning a large extension and renovation. They wanted an open-plan kitchen, living and dining space. Matt gardens, and he wanted the room to face what he was growing rather than away from it. That was the brief.
The job reached us through Chris Jenkins, the builder running the project. Josh had worked for Chris as a labourer years before, and Chris knew what we had started doing on our own. He asked whether we could take on the oak frame. This was our first extension.
An oak frame lean-to, with floor-to-ceiling glass on the garden side so the room looks at the garden from everywhere in it rather than only from the doors. Roof lights carry daylight back across the kitchen end, which a lean-to otherwise leaves dark.
Green oak throughout. Six metres by three.
Our scope was the oak frame and the face glazing. Chris Jenkins and his team built the extension around it: we supplied and raised the frame, they installed the roof and the roof finish, and we returned afterwards to glaze it.
One to two weeks on site. Completed 2019.
Nothing further at this property. Chris Jenkins is another matter. We have worked with him repeatedly in the years since, and this job is the reason.
The first extension we built came to us because someone who already knew the work vouched for it, and a good deal of what followed came from him.
